No problem! Both of locations in Puerto Vallarta and Casa Zuzy in Isla Mujeres have many bi-lingual areas close by so you won’t be too far from home. However, we encourage you to learn some Spanish to make interactions with the local community respectful and inclusive. If not, keep your translator handy but again, lots of locals speak English as well. Just don’t always count on it!
*Pro-tip: Download the app Babbel or Duolingo before your trip and get the basics down. Practice practice practice then immerse yourself in the best culture in the world!

Other than sunscreen, a swim-suit and flip-flops—just all around good vibes and an empty stomach! On a more serious note, it’s good to have Pesos handy and to download the app called WhatsApp. It is the dominant app used for calls/texts in Mexico.
*Pro-tip: Download WhatsApp now and set it up before you leave so you can have calls going right away. Also, make sure your cellular plan has roaming on so you can call/text as you land.

You can get them at your home bank before you leave, which usually provides a better conversion than some ATMs down here. We recommend going to the bigger banks such as Santander, HSBC, BBVA, Banorte, Scotiabank, and Citibanamex.
*Pro-tip: When asked if you want the ATM’s bank to apply the conversion, DECLINE and take your home bank’s conversion, it will be better. -

Yes absolutely! In general, Mexico is a very safe and friendly place to be. Just as anywhere else in the world, exercise discernment with certain situations and be aware of your surroundings.
Pro-tip: Greet everyone you walk bye with a simple “Hola! Buenos Dias/Tardes/Noches” and you will fit right in!

If you have Uber, you can use Uber. There are taxi’s around but we suggest knowing some Spanish before jumping into one.
Pro-tip: We suggest Uber as it’s hard to get your destination wrong since you’ll be selecting it before your ride begins.

We absolutely do and would love to share our experiences with you once you arrive! All of our house managers and hosts have a variety of places in each location that can cater to all sorts of diets from gluten-free to vegan to omnivorous!
Pro-tip: The best food is going to be the street food but may not offer dietary restricted items, just a note of caution. For street food, have pesos ready!
